Our 2025 Chef of the Year, Nimal Amarasinghe, is 13 years into his career at Bon Appétit and stands out for the way he leads with purpose, innovation, and heart, according to Regional Vice President Michael Aquaro, who nominated him for the award.

Penn Dining chefs competed in their second annual Wellness Cup Competition, showcasing their plant-forward spin on an American classic: the burger. The winning dish was a true Bon Appétit classic, featuring seasonality, waste diversion, and teamwork — all on one plate.   

Jeff Thurston has been at this for a while. Compass and Bon Appétit Management Company’s 2024 Chef of the Year has been working in restaurants since he was a teenager growing up in Toronto. It didn’t take long for the energy of restaurants to grab hold of Jeff. Over 30 years later, he still thrives off the action in the back of the house and the buzz of guests in the front of the house.  

Big congratulations are due to the culinary team at Penn Dining who just won two silver awards in this year’s National Association of College & University Food Services (NACUFS) competition!  

Amid the paparazzi flashes and the throngs of admirers lining the red carpet, this year’s Bon Appétit Management Company Be-A-Star winners celebrated their successes in style. Big congrats to this year’s winners from Bon Appétit, who really embody our principles and values in their work!

Bon Appétit Management Company Chief Executive Officer and cofounder, Fedele Bauccio, has been honored with the title of “Ufficiale dell’Ordine della Stella d’Italia” (Officer of the Order of the Star of Italy). The designation is conferred by the President of Italy and Minister of Foreign Affairs to individuals who have greatly contributed to the promotion of friendly relationships and cooperation between Italy and other countries.

Congratulations to Bon Appétit partner Lafayette College, which was recently ranked in the top 10 for Sustainable Food and Dining in AASHE’s 2020 Sustainable Campus Index!
