Recipe: Vegan Matcha Latte

Warm up — and perk up! — in a healthy way with a slightly sweet, fresh-tasting vegan matcha latte full of antioxidants and bright flavor. Experiment with different non-dairy beverages as the base to find your favorite variation.
Serves 2.
- 2 cups hemp milk*
- 1 tablespoon matcha* (green tea powder), divided
- 2 teaspoons agave
In small saucepan, bring hemp milk to a simmer.
Place 1-1/2 teaspoons matcha powder into each of two mugs.
Bring 1/2 cup water to boil. Slowly pour 1/4 cup hot water into each mug, stirring to completely dissolve the matcha powder.
Pour one cup of warm hemp milk into each mug, whisking with a small whisk, fork, or specialty coffee beverage frother.
Stir in 1 teaspoon agave to each mug if desired. Garnish by sprinkling matcha powder lightly on top.
*Hemp milk creates a thick, creamy beverage and is available at specialty and well-stocked grocery markets, or substitute almond milk (or half coconut milk and half coconut water). Matcha can be found at similar stores or ordered online.
