Fellows serve as a resource to Bon Appétit chefs, managers and guests interested in understanding or strengthening sustainability-related programs and/or launching new initiatives in their cafés. The chosen applicants will engage creatively with communities where Bon Appétit manages the food; generating interest in food and sustainability challenges and communicating Bon Appétit policies through farm visits, guest lectures, educational events and assistance with the implementation of sustainability-related programs.

Between campus visits, Fellows perform research to inform innovative programs that will maintain the company’s position as a leader in sustainability. Fellows’ projects are constantly changing, and have included work on reducing food waste, defining fair farm labor, creating a network of student gardeners and farmers at colleges around the country, providing support and resources to students interested in running the Real Food Calculator, and supporting food recovery programs.

Fellowships are intended as an opportunity for recent college graduates of campuses that are served by Bon Appétit. This position looks for candidates that are active in sustainability issues during their time on campus and want to share knowledge about and passion for agricultural issues and sustainability in the food service industry.

The Fellowship is generally a one year position with the possibility of extension by mutual agreement. Chosen applicants will work remotely from their choice on a short list of locations within their assigned region. We are currently seeking applicants for the Midwest and West Coast regions, working from one the following cities: Minneapolis, Seattle, Portland, OR, the SF Bay area, or Los Angeles.
