Thanks to the stadium’s new vendor contract with Bon Appétit Management Company, the home of the San Francisco Giants is now offering 16-oz. cans from top-notch Northern California breweries.

Bon Appétit Management Company, food service provider on Johns Hopkins University’s Homewood campus, announced the elimination of plastic straws from all its eateries.

Bon Appétit Management Company was the latest to institute a ban against plastic straws and stirrers company-wide in its 1,000 cafés and restaurants in 33 states.

Last week, Bon Appétit Management Company announced that it would phase out eco-unfriendly plastic straws, effective immediately.

There will be millions of fewer plastic straws finding their way into landfills and the ocean as yet another major company has committed to ditching the disposable utensil.

The movement to ban straws and other single-use plastics is growing.

Plastic straws make up an alarming percentage of waste around the world.

“We want to do the right thing for the environment,” said CEO Fedele Bauccio. “Hopefully, this will spark other people in the industry to follow. … We are a large company and can set an example.”

Bon Appétit Management Company’s move is the latest salvo in a growing war against straws.

As part of Bon Appétit Management Company’s Healthy Kids program, Executive Chef Patrick Kander led a colorful cooking demonstration and tastings for students at Hillsdale Academy.
