VIDEO: MICC Grads Explain Why Bon Appétit Is Their ‘Favorite Job’ Ever

The Bon Appétit team at Best Buy headquarters in Minneapolis has been working for several years with graduates of Minnesota Independence College and Community (formerly called Minnesota Life College), a life-skills training program located in Richfield, MN, for young adults with autism spectrum disorder or other learning differences. In addition to jobs, Executive Chef Christian Pieper has offered instruction in knife skills and basic cooking techniques, while General Manager Susan Davis has taught the ins and outs of catering and dining room service standards.

MICC was kind enough to name Bon Appétit its Community Champion in the Corporate category last year, and to feature the partnership in this special video.

Susan and Christian “have gone above and beyond to understand and connect with MICC’s mission. Susan and Chef Christian always treat our participants with respect and professional courtesy and are the very embodiment of an employer who meets our students where they are,” says MICC Executive Director Amy Gudmestad. “The kindness, patience and wisdom that Bon Appétit has shown all of us in the MICC community are truly appreciated. …Our staff, students, and graduates would not be where they are today if it was not for all of you.”
