Smart phones just keep getting smarter, and students in particular depend on them more and more to access information on the fly. Recently, Bon Appetit at Washington University in St. Louis collaborated with two students to create the new “WUSTL Dining” iPhone app to provide access to menus and nutrition information from anywhere. Available for free from Apple’s online store, the app pulls real-time data from FoodPro, the online service used by Wash U dining, and offers a map of all the dining facilities on campus.
The app was created by fifth year engineering student Shubho Sadhu and senior Oliver Jones. It definitely puts Wash U dining on the cutting edge of technology — very few other schools have ventured into the mobile dining app zone. In the future, Shubho and Oliver hope to expand and improve upon the app by providing real-time operating hours and other information for each of the dining locations around campus.
